Before diving into the cooking process, it's essential to properly prepare your shrimp. Start by patting the shrimp dry with paper towels. This step is crucial as it removes excess moisture, allowing for a better sear and preventing the shrimp from steaming in the pan. Wet shrimp can lead to a soggy texture, so take the time to get them nice and dry.

Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper, to taste

8 small corn tortillas

1 cup red cabbage, shredded

½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

1 avocado, sliced

½ lime, juiced

Optional: hot sauce, for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season them with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Make Garlic Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Squeeze the lime juice over the shrimp and toss well to coat.

Warm the Tortillas: While the shrimp are cooking, warm your tortillas in a separate skillet or directly over a gas flame for about 15-20 seconds on each side until pliable.

Assemble Tacos: Place a generous portion of the garlic butter shrimp onto each tortilla. Top with shredded red cabbage, fresh cilantro, and avocado slices.

Serve: Drizzle with hot sauce if desired, and serve immediately, garnished with lime wedges.
