Ingredients

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup unsweetened apple sauce

1/2 cup almond butter (or any nut butter of your choice)

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

1/2 cup dried apples, chopped

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or almonds)

1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Pinch of salt

Cooking spray or parchment paper for lining

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x9-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the unsweetened apple sauce, almond butter, and honey (or maple syrup). Stir until smooth and well blended.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the rolled oats, chopped dried apples, ground cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), chopped nuts, and a pinch of salt.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet mixture. Stir until everything is evenly combined. If desired, fold in the mini chocolate chips for a sweet touch.

Press into Pan: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula or your hands to press the mixture firmly and evenly into the pan.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

Cool Completely: Remove the granola bars from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. Then, using the overhanging parchment paper, lift the bars out of the pan and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.

Cut and Store: Once cooled, cut the granola into bars or squares. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
