Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

2-3 Thai bird’s eye chilies, sliced (adjust for spice level)

1 large onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 cup green beans, trimmed

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon fish sauce

1 teaspoon sugar

1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves

Steamed jasmine rice (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Prepare the Wok: Heat the vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. You want the oil to shimmer but not smoke.

Sauté Aromatics: Add minced garlic and sliced chilies to the hot oil. Stir-fry quickly for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the wok, spreading it out in a single layer. Let it sear for about 2 minutes without stirring. Then, stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through.

Add Vegetables: Toss in the sliced onion, red bell pepper, and green beans. Stir-fry for about 3 minutes until the veggies are just tender but still crisp.

Final Touches: Fold in the fresh Thai basil leaves, allowing them to wilt slightly. Stir everything together for another minute to combine the flavors.

Serve: Remove from heat and transfer the stir fry to a serving plate. Serve hot over steamed jasmine rice.
