300g spaghetti or fettuccine

400g fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

100g cherry tomatoes, halved

1 lemon, zested and juiced

50g freshly grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

    Sauté the Asparagus: In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add the asparagus pieces. Sauté for about 3-5 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Remove asparagus from the skillet and set aside.

      Infuse the Oil: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant but not browned.

        Combine Ingredients: Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for another 2-3 minutes until they soften. Return the sautéed asparagus to the skillet.

          Mix with Pasta: Add the drained pasta to the skillet along with the lemon zest and juice. Pour in a splash of the reserved pasta water, tossing everything together until well combined. If the pasta seems dry, add a little more pasta water until you reach the desired consistency.

            Finishing Touches: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

              Serve and Garnish: Serve the asparagus pasta in bowls, garnished with fresh basil leaves and additional Parmesan on top for an extra cheesy delight!
