Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

1 cup beef broth

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Add aromatics: Add diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3 minutes, or until the onion is translucent.

Mix in sauces: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth. Add Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Cook the pasta: Stir in the uncooked elbow macaroni. Cover and let cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente and has absorbed some of the sauce.

Transfer to casserole dish: Pour the beef and pasta mixture into a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish. Spread evenly.

Add cheeses: Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheeses evenly over the top. Then, add the grated Parmesan cheese for an extra crunchy layer.

Bake: Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Serve and garnish: Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
