Ingredients

1 lb beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, minced

1/4 cup hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

2 green onions, chopped for garnish

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well to ensure the beef is coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes for optimal flavor and tender texture.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.

Sauté the Vegetables: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced bell peppers, onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender.

Combine: Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables. Pour in the prepared sauce and toss everything together to combine well. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is evenly coated.

Serve: Remove from heat, and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
