2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons instant yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon sugar

3/4 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 cup cooked breakfast sausage or bacon, crumbled

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend)

1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until smooth. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.

    Knead the Dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

      Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, in another bowl, combine the crumbled breakfast sausage or bacon, shredded cheese, diced bell peppers (if using), garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well and set aside.

        Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

          Fill the Dough: Spread the filling mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough. Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seams to seal the edges.

            Slice and Arrange: Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, slice the rolled dough into 1-inch thick pieces. Place the rolls cut-side up in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll.

              Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes while you preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
