Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

8 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Sea salt flakes (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal later.

Melt the Butter and Chocolate: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and chopped chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix the Sugars and Eggs: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted chocolate mixture with granulated sugar until combined. Add in the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Add Dry Ingredients: Gently fold in the all-purpose flour and salt until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Prepare the Caramel Swirl: In a separate small bowl, slightly warm the caramel sauce if it's too thick (you can do this in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds). Remove about 1/4 cup of the brownie batter and mix it with the caramel sauce until combined.

Assemble the Brownie Bars: Pour the majority of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Drizzle the caramel mixture over the top of the brownie batter and use a knife or skewer to create a swirling pattern.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). Be careful to not overbake.

Cool and Cut: Once baked, remove the brownie bars from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Use the parchment edges to lift them out. Allow them to cool completely on a wire rack, then cut into squares or bars.

Final Touch: Before serving, sprinkle with sea salt flakes for an added touch of flavor. Enjoy your rich and gooey caramel swirl brownie bars!
