Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¾ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup diced apples (peeled and cored, preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 cup powdered sugar (for the glaze)

2 tablespoons milk (for the glaze)

Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Beat the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and eggs. Beat them together until light and fluffy. Slowly add the melted butter and vanilla extract, mixing well until combined.

Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Fold in Apples and Nuts: Gently fold in the diced apples and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Transfer to Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. You may want to cover the top loosely with aluminum foil halfway through baking to prevent it from browning too quickly.

Cool the Bread: Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add a tiny bit more milk until you reach your desired consistency.

Glaze the Bread: Once the bread is completely cool, drizzle the glaze over the top. Allow it to set for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Serve & Enjoy: Slice the bread and serve it fresh! Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a delightful afternoon snack.
