Creamy Chicken and Broccoli Bake

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced

3 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 cup uncooked whole wheat pasta (like penne or rotini)

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

½ cup cream cheese, softened

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup milk (or a dairy-free alternative)

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

½ cup breadcrumbs (optional for topping)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the whole wheat pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

      Sauté the Broccoli: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the fresh broccoli florets and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Remove from heat.

        Prepare the Sauce: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cream cheese, chicken broth, and milk until smooth. Stir in the onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to taste.

          Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, sautéed broccoli, and cooked pasta. Pour the sauce over the chicken and vegetable mixture and fold everything together until evenly coated.

            Add Cheese: Mix in ¾ cup of the shredded cheddar cheese.
