Creamy Chicken and Broccoli Pasta Skillet

8 oz (about 2 cups) penne pasta

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for spice)

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

    Sauté the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced chicken, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for about 6-8 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

      Prepare the Broccoli: In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they’re bright green and slightly tender. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

        Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes to meld the flavors.

          Make It Creamy: Lower the heat, and stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Mix well until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper, to your preference.

            Combine with Pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing everything together until the pasta is well-coated in the creamy sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little more chicken broth to reach your desired consistency.
