Ingredients

  • 0.4536 kg fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 0.298 kg cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.125 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.5 tsp paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat the Air Fryer: Set the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is ready for the casserole.
  • Prepare the Green Beans: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Blanch the green beans for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and crisp-tender. Drain and immediately plunge them into an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.
  • Mix the Casserole Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  • Combine Ingredients: Add the blanched green beans to the soup mixture and stir to coat evenly. If you’re using cheese, fold in the shredded cheddar cheese at this point.
  • Prepare the Air Fryer Basket: Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or oil to prevent sticking.
  • Add the Casserole Mixture: Pour the green bean mixture into the air fryer basket and spread it out evenly.
  • Air Fry the Casserole: Cook for 15 minutes at 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the Topping: While the casserole is cooking, mix the crispy fried onions, grated Parmesan cheese, and paprika in a small bowl.
  • Add the Topping: After 15 minutes, carefully remove the basket and sprinkle the onion mixture on top of the casserole. Return it to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5-8 minutes until the topping is crispy and golden brown.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Once done, let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy this cozy dish as a side for your favorite holiday or everyday meal!
