1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (black or white, or a mix)

1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Lemon wedges, for serving

Prepare the Asparagus: Rinse the asparagus under cold water and trim off the woody ends. Pat dry with a paper towel.

    Make the Garlic Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Whisk the mixture until well blended.

      Coat the Asparagus: Place the trimmed asparagus in the bowl with the garlic sauce. Toss well until each spear is evenly coated with the sauce.

        Add Sesame Seeds: Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the garlic-coated asparagus and toss gently to evenly distribute them.

          Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it preheat for about 3-5 minutes.

            Air Fry the Asparagus: Once preheated, arrange the asparagus in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Make sure not to overcrowd them for even cooking. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

              Cooking Time: Air fry the asparagus for about 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure they crisp up evenly. The asparagus should be tender, yet crispy and lightly browned at the tips.

                Serve: Carefully remove the asparagus from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving platter. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top and garnish with additional sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy warm as a side dish or a healthy snack!
