Crispy Spicy Chickpea Air Fryer Tacos

1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Salt and black pepper to taste

8 small corn or flour tortillas

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup diced tomatoes

½ cup diced red onion

½ cup avocado, diced

½ cup cilantro, chopped

Lime wedges for serving

Optional: hot sauce for drizzling

Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to heat up for about 5 minutes.

    Season the Chickpeas: In a mixing bowl, combine the drained chickpeas with olive oil, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Toss well until the chickpeas are evenly coated.

      Air Fry the Chickpeas: Place the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 15-18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. The chickpeas should be golden brown and crispy when done.

        Prepare the Tacos: While the chickpeas are cooking, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side, or until pliable.

          Assemble the Tacos: Once the chickpeas are crispy, remove them from the air fryer and set them aside. Take a warm tortilla and add a generous spoonful of crispy chickpeas. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, avocado, and fresh cilantro.
