Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon olive oil

Optional: 1/2 cup chopped onions

Optional: 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: Rinse the chicken breasts and pat them dry with paper towels. If desired, cut the chicken into halves for even cooking.

Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. This will be your flavor-packed marinade.

Sauté Optional Vegetables: If you’re using onions and bell peppers, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the vegetables for about 3-4 minutes until they are slightly softened.

Layer the Crock Pot: Place the sautéd vegetables (if using) at the bottom of the crock pot. Add the chicken breasts on top.

Add the Sauce: Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the chicken, ensuring they are well coated.

Cook: Cover and set your crock pot to low heat. Cook for 6-8 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Shred the Chicken: Once cooked, remove the chicken from the crock pot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the pot and stir to combine with the remaining sauce.

Serve: Serve the BBQ chicken on toasted buns for sandwiches, with rice, or alongside coleslaw. Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color.

Enjoy: Indulge in your delicious, tender, slow-cooked BBQ chicken!
