Ingredients

1 package (15.25 oz) chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix

3 cups cold milk

12 oz whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

Gummy worms (for decoration)

Edible flowers or mint leaves (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the cookies: In a food processor, crush the chocolate sandwich cookies until they resemble fine crumbs. Set aside about 1 cup of the crumbs for topping later.

Make the cream cheese mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy.

Add the cocoa: Mix in the unsweetened cocoa powder into the cream cheese mixture until well blended.

Combine pudding and milk: In another bowl, whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix with the cold milk for about 2 minutes, or until it thickens.

Mix all together: Fold the chocolate pudding into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined. Then gently fold in the whipped topping until creamy and luscious.

Layer the dessert: In a trifle dish or individual cups, start layering the dessert. Begin with a layer of the cream cheese mixture, followed by a layer of crushed cookies. Repeat the layers until all components are used, finishing with the cream cheese mixture on top.

Decorate: Sprinkle the reserved cookie crumbs over the top layer to resemble dirt. Add gummy worms so they look like they're crawling through the dirt. If desired, decorate with edible flowers or fresh mint leaves for a pop of color.

Chill: Refrigerate the dirt cake for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.

Serve: Spoon out portions and enjoy the delightful layers of chocolatey goodness with your friends and family!
