Ingredients

For the Pulled Pork:

3 lbs pork shoulder (also called pork butt)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust based on spice preference)

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup chicken broth

For the Coleslaw:

4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced

1 cup carrots, grated

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For Serving:

12 slider buns

Additional BBQ sauce (optional)

Pickles (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Pork: In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.

Sear the Pork: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the pork shoulder on all sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Cook the Pork: Place the seared pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour the chicken broth around it and cover with the BBQ sauce. Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shredded.

Make the Coleslaw: In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and grated carrots. In a separate bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss until well coated. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Shred the Pork: Once the pork is done cooking, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker to soak up the BBQ sauce for an additional 30 minutes on low.

Assemble the Sliders: Toast the slider buns if desired. Spoon a generous amount of pulled pork onto the bottom half of each slider bun, top with a scoop of coleslaw, and drizzle with additional BBQ sauce if you like. Place the top bun on each slider.

Serve: Serve the sliders warm with pickles on the side if desired. Enjoy this delightful combination of smoky, sweet, and crunchy flavors!
