Ingredients

3 ripe bananas (mashed)

1/3 cup melted unsalted butter

3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)

1 large egg (beaten)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

Pinch of salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 4x8 inch loaf pan.

Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas and melted butter until well combined. Then stir in the brown sugar followed by the beaten egg and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the baking soda, salt, and flour. If using, add the cinnamon.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the banana mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Overmixing can lead to a dense bread, so mix until no flour streaks remain.

Add Nuts: If you're using walnuts, fold them into the batter gently.

Pour into Pan: Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Cool: Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice and Serve: Once cooled, slice the bread and serve. It’s delicious as is but can also be enjoyed warm with a pat of butter!
