Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Make Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined; be careful not to overmix.

Form Meatballs: Shape the mixture into 16 golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake Meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Prepare Marinara Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the marinara sauce and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Heat the sauce until warm, stirring occasionally.

Combine: Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and add them to the warm marinara sauce. Stir gently to coat the meatballs.

Assemble Subs: Slice the hoagie rolls or sub buns open, and place them on serving plates. Spoon 4 meatballs with marinara sauce onto each roll and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Melt Cheese: Optional - Place the assembled subs on a baking sheet and broil them in the oven for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Serve: Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, and serve hot. Enjoy your delicious turkey meatball subs!
