Ingredients

Tuna Salad:

2 (5 oz) cans of chunk tuna, drained

1/4 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1/4 cup finely diced red onion

1/4 cup finely diced celery

1 jalapeño, seeded and diced

1/2 cup diced green chili peppers (canned or roasted)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon cumin

Sliders:

8 small slider buns (preferably brioche)

1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Tuna Salad:

    - In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard. Mix well.

      - Add the diced red onion, celery, jalapeño, and green chili peppers to the bowl.

        - Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and cumin. Stir until all ingredients are well incorporated. Chill in the fridge while you prep the sliders.

          Preheat the Oven:

            - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

              Assemble the Sliders:

                - Slice the slider buns in half horizontally without separating the tops and bottoms. Lay the bottoms of the buns on a baking sheet.

                  - Spoon the prepared tuna salad generously onto each bun bottom.

                    - Sprinkle the shredded Monterey Jack cheese evenly over the top of the tuna salad.

                      Top the Sliders:

                        - Place the tops of the slider buns over the cheese.

                          - Brush the tops lightly with olive oil to enhance browning. For added flavor, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder on top if desired.

                            Bake the Sliders:

                              - Cover the baking sheet loosely with aluminum foil to prevent over-browning of the buns.

                                - Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for another 5-8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.

                                  Garnish and Serve:

                                    - Once out of the oven, remove the sliders and let them cool for a minute.

                                      - Optionally, garnish with fresh cilantro before serving. Cut the sliders into individual portions and enjoy warm.
