Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup whole milk

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

Food coloring (red, white, and green for the Neapolitan effect)

For the Filling:

1 cup strawberry jam

1 cup whipped cream

1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread

Fresh strawberries, halved (for garnish)

For Grilling:

4 tbsp unsalted butter (for spreading)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C): Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

    Make the Cake Batter:

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Add in the softened butter, whole milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.

        Create Neapolitan Colors:

Divide the batter into three separate bowls. Leave one as is for the chocolate layer. Tint the second with red food coloring for the strawberry flavor, and leave the third plain for the vanilla layer.

            Bake the Layers:

Pour the chocolate batter into the center, then carefully layer the strawberry batter over it, followed by the vanilla batter. Gently swirl it with a knife for a marbled effect. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let the layers cool completely.

                Assemble the Cake Sandwich:

Once cool, slice the cake into thick layers. Take one layer and spread a generous layer of strawberry jam on top. Place another sliced layer on top and spread a layer of chocolate hazelnut spread, followed by a layer of whipped cream. Top with the last layer of cake.

                    Heat Up the Grill:

Preheat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat.

                        Prepare for Grilling:

Spread butter on the outer sides of the cake sandwich to ensure a golden brown crust.

                            Grill the Sandwich:

Place the sandwich on the grill pan. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until you achieve a crispy, golden crust while the inside melts slightly.

                                Serve:

Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly. Cut into wedges, garnish with fresh strawberry halves, and serve warm.
