Ingredients

1 cup almond flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)

1/4 cup vanilla or chocolate protein powder

1/4 cup maple syrup or honey

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (dairy-free, if desired)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan with coconut oil or non-stick spray.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the almond flour, cocoa powder, protein powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate large bowl, combine the maple syrup (or honey), applesauce, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the ingredients are smooth and fully incorporated.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix. Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips.

Fill the Pan: Using a piping bag or a spoon, carefully fill each cavity of the donut pan about 2/3 full with the batter.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool Down: Let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve: Enjoy your healthy chocolate protein donuts as a nutritious snack, breakfast, or post-workout treat!
