The ketogenic diet, commonly known as the keto diet, is a low-carbohydrate, high-fat eating plan designed to encourage the body to enter a state of ketosis. Ketosis is a metabolic process where the body, deprived of its usual carbohydrate fuel source, begins to burn fat for energy instead. This shift can lead to weight loss, improved mental clarity, and increased energy levels.

Ingredients

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

2 oz cream cheese

1 cup almond flour

1 large egg

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried oregano

½ tsp salt

½ tsp baking powder

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley (optional for garnish)

Extra olive oil or butter for brushing

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Melt the cheese: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella and cream cheese. Heat on high in the microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

Mix the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the almond flour, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and baking powder.

Combine the mixtures: Add the melted cheese mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir well until combined.

Add the egg: Next, crack in the large egg and mix until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, you can add a little more almond flour, but it should be workable.

Shape the breadsticks: Transfer the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. With your hands, shape it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Use a knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough into stick shapes, but do not cut all the way through.

Add the Parmesan: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the dough.

Bake: Place the breadsticks in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

Brush with oil: Once out of the oven, brush the top with olive oil or melted butter for extra flavor.

Garnish: Optionally, sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the breadsticks for a pop of color and added flavor.

Serve warm: Slice the breadsticks completely through and serve with your favorite low-carb marinara or as a side to an entrée.
