Ingredients

2 cups dark chocolate chips (70% cocoa or higher)

1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for a smoother texture)

1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies (or candy canes)

1/4 teaspoon pure peppermint extract

Sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet (approximately 9x13 inches) with parchment paper, making sure it hangs over the edges for easy removal later.

Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine dark chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave on medium power in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate.

Add Peppermint Flavor: Pour in the peppermint extract and stir well to combine.

Spread the Chocolate: Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet. Using a spatula, spread the chocolate into an even layer approximately 1/4 inch thick.

Add the Toppings: While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies evenly over the top. Lightly press them into the chocolate to ensure they stick.

Sprinkle Salt: For an extra flavor boost, finish with a light sprinkle of sea salt over the bark.

Chill: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30-60 minutes, or until the chocolate has completely hardened.

Break Into Pieces: Once set, remove the bark from the baking sheet using the parchment paper overhang as handles. Break into irregularly shaped pieces with your hands or a knife.

Store: Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks, or keep them in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
