No-Bake S’mores Rice Krispie Treats

3 cups Rice Krispies cereal

1 cup mini marshmallows

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

1 cup graham cracker crumbs

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Extra mini marshmallows and chocolate chips for topping

Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) for added crunch

Instructions
 

Prepare the Pan: Line an 8x8-inch (or 9x9-inch) square baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray. This will help you easily lift out the treats once they've set.

    Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Make sure to keep an eye on it to prevent browning. Once completely melted, remove from heat.

      Add Ingredients: To the melted butter, add the mini marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted and well combined with the butter. This should take about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

        Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Krispies cereal, graham cracker crumbs, and chocolate chips. Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the dry ingredients, and using a spatula or spoon, mix gently until everything is well coated.

          Press into the Pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a greased spatula or your hands (you can dampen them slightly to prevent sticking) to press the mixture down evenly and firmly into the pan.

            Add Toppings: Sprinkle extra mini marshmallows and chocolate chips over the top of the mixture. For added texture and crunch, you can also distribute the chopped nuts if using.

              Set the Treats: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. For quicker setting, you can refrigerate them for about 15 minutes.

                Cut and Serve: Once firm, lift the treats out from the pan using the edges of the parchment paper. Cut into squares or bars, and serve immediately. Enjoy the gooey, chocolaty goodness!
