Ingredients

3 ripe bananas

2 tablespoons butter or coconut oil

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Optional: chopped walnuts or pecans for garnish

Optional: scoop of vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

Prep the Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them diagonally into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Set aside.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, heat the butter or coconut oil over medium heat until melted and bubbly, about 1 minute.

Combine Sugar and Spices: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. This will create a sweet, aromatic topping for the bananas.

Cook the Bananas: Carefully place the banana slices in the hot skillet in a single layer. Let them cook for about 2 minutes on one side until they begin to caramelize and turn golden.

Add the Sweetness: Flip the banana slices over, sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over them, and drizzle the vanilla extract. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, gently stirring occasionally, until the bananas are tender and the sugar has dissolved into a syrup.

Finish: Remove the skillet from heat. If desired, mix in the chopped walnuts or pecans for an added crunch.

Serve: Plate the caramelized bananas warm, drizzling the remaining sauce from the pan over the top. For an indulgent treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
