Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

6 oz Swiss cheese, grated

6 oz cooked ham, diced

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth it out. Cut the pastry into 1-inch strips.

Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the diced ham, grated Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard, and chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until well combined.

Assemble the Twists: Place a tablespoon of the filling at one end of each strip of puff pastry. Fold the pastry over the filling to form a twist. Make sure to press down the edges to seal.

Twist and Brush: Carefully twist the filled pastry strips into spirals. Place each twist on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish and sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds if desired.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the twists are puffed up and golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Let the twists cool for a few minutes on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy them warm as a delightful appetizer or snack!
