Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp olive oil

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce

1 bell pepper, diced

1 zucchini, diced

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Cooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Form the mixture into meatballs (around 1 inch in diameter).

Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in a single layer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning them occasionally until all sides are browned. They don’t need to be fully cooked through at this point.

Add Vegetables: Once the meatballs are browned, add the diced bell pepper and zucchini to the skillet. Sauté for another 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.

Incorporate Marinara: Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs and vegetables. Gently stir to coat everything in the sauce. Bring it to a simmer and cover. Allow to cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.

Serve: Once cooked, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve the savory turkey meatballs and marinara over cooked spaghetti or your pasta of choice. Garnish with fresh basil leaves for a fresh touch.

Enjoy: Dig in and savor the delicious blend of flavors and textures in this hearty skillet dish!
