Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1/4 cup milk

1 cup marinara sauce (for serving)

Olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, beaten egg, oregano, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Add Milk: Slowly add the milk to the mixture, stirring gently until all ingredients are fully combined. Be careful not to overmix as this can make the meatballs tough.

Shape Meatballs: With clean hands, shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs. Place them on a plate or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper as you go.

Prepare Pan: In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is heated, add the meatballs in batches, making sure not to crowd the skillet.

Cook Meatballs: Sear the meatballs for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are nicely browned. Use tongs to turn them gently so they don’t break apart.

Simmer in Sauce (Optional): Once browned, pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs in the skillet. Cover and let them simmer on low heat for an additional 10-15 minutes, allowing the meatballs to absorb some of the sauce flavor.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve the savory turkey meatballs hot over spaghetti, as a sub sandwich filling, or on their own with a sprinkle of extra parsley and grated Parmesan on top.
