Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Extra ground cinnamon (for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until creamy and well combined.

Add Egg and Vanilla: Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, beating on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be soft and somewhat sticky.

Shape the Cookies: Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough and roll it into a ball. Place on the lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Flatten Cookies: Gently flatten each ball with the palm of your hand to create thick disks.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Do not overbake; the cookies should still feel soft in the center.

Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth and drizzle-able. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or powdered sugar if needed.

Glaze Cookies: Once the cookies are completely cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top of each cookie. Dust lightly with extra ground cinnamon for an added touch.

Serve and Enjoy: Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes, then serve fresh or store in an airtight container for up to a week.
