Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and pressed

2 tablespoons cornstarch

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

¼ teaspoon salt

½ cup hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon sriracha (or to taste)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)

1 cup shredded carrots

1 cup red cabbage, thinly sliced

1 head of iceberg lettuce, leaves separated for wrapping

Instructions

Prepare the Tofu: Start by draining the tofu and pressing it between paper towels to remove excess moisture. After pressing for about 15 minutes, cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes.

Coat the Tofu: In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt until evenly coated.

Fry the Tofu: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the coated tofu cubes in a single layer and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet.

Prepare the Sauce: While the tofu is frying, whisk together hoisin sauce, sriracha, and rice vinegar in a small bowl. Adjust the sriracha according to your spice preference.

Combine Tofu and Sauce: Once the tofu is crispy, reduce the heat to low and pour the sauce mixture over the tofu in the skillet. Gently toss the tofu in the sauce until well-coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.

Assemble the Wraps: To serve, lay out the lettuce leaves on a platter. Spoon the spicy crispy tofu into each leaf, then top with shredded carrots and sliced red cabbage. Garnish with sliced green onions.

Enjoy: Serve the lettuce wraps immediately while they're still warm, allowing everyone to assemble their own wraps at the table.
