Ingredients

1 lb (450g) fresh green beans, trimmed

4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tsp honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Blanch the Green Beans: Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain immediately and plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.

Prepare the Garlic: In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring constantly until the garlic is fragrant and just starting to turn golden (be careful not to burn it).

Add Heat: Stir in the red pepper flakes and continue to cook for another 30 seconds, allowing the flavors to blend.

Stir-Fry the Green Beans: Add the blanched green beans to the skillet and toss well to coat in the garlic oil. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes, making sure the green beans are heated through.

Season: Drizzle the soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil over the green beans. If you like a hint of sweetness, add the honey too. Stir well to combine all the ingredients and cook for another 2 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat, transfer the spicy garlic green beans to a serving platter, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, and serve hot.
