Ingredients

1 store-bought angel food cake (or homemade, if preferred)

2 cups heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)

1 cup Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla)

Zest of 1 lemon

Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Berries: Rinse all the berries under cold water. Slice the strawberries into thin pieces. In a medium bowl, combine all the berries with a tablespoon of powdered sugar (to enhance sweetness if needed) and set aside to macerate for about 15 minutes.

Make the Whipped Cream: In a large mixing bowl, add the heavy whipping cream, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip on medium speed until medium to stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip.

Mix the Yogurt: In another bowl, combine the Greek yogurt with the lemon zest, mixing well to incorporate. This adds a refreshing citrus flavor to the trifle.

Assemble the Trifle: In a large trifle bowl or individual glasses, start layering the components:

          - Begin with a layer of angel food cake, tearing it into bite-sized pieces.

            - Next, add a layer of the mixed berries, distributing them evenly.

              - Follow with a layer of the lemon yogurt mixture.

                - Top with a generous layer of whipped cream.

                  - Repeat the layers until you reach the top of the bowl, finishing with whipped cream.

Chill and Serve: Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or up to 8 hours) to allow the flavors to meld together and the cake to absorb some of the juices from the berries.

Garnish and Enjoy: Just before serving, garnish with additional mixed berries and a few fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and freshness. Serve chilled and enjoy the delightful layers of flavor!
