Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb ground pork

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp ground allspice

1 tsp dried thyme

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

For the Noodle Bake:

12 oz egg noodles

2 cups beef broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp Dijon mustard

1 cup frozen peas

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (or mozzarella)

1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Meatballs:

    - In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, allspice, thyme, and parsley. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

      - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). While the oven is heating, roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

        Cook the Meatballs:

          - In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and cook the meatballs in batches until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes total. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

            Prepare the Noodles:

              - Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

                Create the Sauce:

                  - In the same skillet used for the meatballs, pour in the beef broth, heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir while scraping up any leftover meatball bits. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

                    Assemble the Bake:

                      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked noodles, peas, and half of the cooked meatballs. Pour the sauce over the noodle mixture and gently fold until everything is well coated.

                        Bake:

                          - Transfer the noodle and meatball mix into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Top with the remaining meatballs and sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese evenly over the top.

                            - Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

                              Serve:

                                - Once baked, remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh dill before serving. Enjoy your Swedish Meatball Noodle Bake with a side of fresh salad or crusty bread!
