Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

Optional: 1/4 cup desiccated coconut or chocolate chips for added flavor

Instructions

Prepare the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk with the active dry yeast and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy, indicating that the yeast is activated.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the activated yeast mixture into the wet mixture and stir well to incorporate.

Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour, sugar, and salt to the wet mixture, stirring with a wooden spoon or your hands until a shaggy dough forms. If using, fold in desiccated coconut or chocolate chips at this stage for added texture and flavor.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Shape the Loaf: Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Transfer it back to the floured surface and shape it into a loaf. Place the shaped loaf into a greased standard loaf pan (9x5 inches).

Second Rise: Cover the pan loosely with a towel and allow it to rise again for about 30-45 minutes, until it puffs up slightly.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Bread: Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Cool and Serve: Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Enjoy: Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. This sweet bread pairs beautifully with butter or cream cheese!
