Tomato Basil Tart

1 pre-made puff pastry sheet

4 medium ripe tomatoes, sliced

1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

1 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Prepare the Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to fit your baking sheet. Place it on the prepared baking sheet and, using a knife, score a 1-inch border around the edges, being careful not to cut all the way through. Prick the inner rectangle with a fork to prevent puffing.

      Mix the Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, half of the chopped basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well until smooth.

        Spread the Filling: Spread the cheese mixture evenly within the border of the pastry.

          Layer the Tomatoes: Arrange the sliced tomatoes on top of the cheese filling in a circular or overlapping pattern. Drizzle a little olive oil over the tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.

            Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the tomatoes and remaining chopped basil.

              Egg Wash: Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg to give it a golden color while baking.

                Bake the Tart: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

                  Cool and Garnish: Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve warm or at room temperature.
