2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup smoked gouda cheese, shredded

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

1/2 cup BBQ sauce (plus extra for serving)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Burger:

1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

4 hamburger buns

4 slices of crispy bacon (optional)

1 cup coleslaw (optional)

Pickles (for serving)

Instructions

Cook the Macaroni:

    - Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

      Make the Cheese Sauce:

        - In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly.

          - Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously until the mixture is thickened (about 5-7 minutes).

            - Reduce heat to low. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, and BBQ sauce. Add the shredded cheddar and gouda, stirring until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

              Combine Mac and Cheese:

                - Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until well combined. Set aside.

                  Prepare the Burgers:

                    - In a bowl, mix ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 equal patties.

                      - Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

                        Toast the Buns:

                          - Lightly butter the hamburger buns and toast them on the grill or in a skillet until golden brown.

                            Assemble the Burgers:

                              - On the bottom of each bun, place a burger patty followed by a generous scoop of the BBQ mac and cheese.

                                - Top with crispy bacon (if using) and coleslaw for added crunch, then drizzle extra BBQ sauce over everything. Add pickles if desired and place the top bun on.

                                  Serve:

                                    - Serve your Ultimate BBQ Mac and Cheese Burgers hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side and enjoy the delicious, cheesy goodness!
