Ingredients

  • 2.0 lbs turkey breast
  • 3.0 tbsp olive oil
  • 2.0 zest lemons
  • 3.0 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3.0 cloves garlic
  • 1.0 tbsp fresh rosemary
  • 1.0 tbsp fresh thyme
  • 1.0 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 1.0 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1.0 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Prepare the Turkey Marinade: In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, parsley, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well to create a marinade.
  • Marinate the Turkey: Place the turkey breast in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the turkey, making sure to coat it evenly. Seal the bag or cover the dish and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes; if you have more time, marinate it for up to an hour for enhanced flavor.
  • Sear the Turkey Breast: Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the turkey from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and sear it in the skillet for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Baste and Roast: Pour the reserved marinade and chicken broth into the skillet around the turkey. This will help keep the turkey moist. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and roast for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Rest the Turkey: Once cooked, remove the turkey breast from the oven and let it rest on a cutting board, covered loosely with aluminum foil, for about 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
  • Slice and Serve: After resting, slice the turkey breast against the grain into thick pieces. Serve it with a drizzle of the pan juices and garnish with lemon wedges and fresh herbs if desired.
  • Enjoy: Plate your zesty lemon herb turkey breast with your favorite sides, and enjoy your holiday meal!

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the turkey for up to an hour.
